Allied Arts Fund Announces 2010 “March for the Arts Jubilee” Annual Fund Drive begins Thursday, March 4th
RAPID CITY – To kickoff Rapid City Mayor Alan Hanks’ declaration of March 2010 as MARCH FOR THE ARTS MONTH, the annual “March for the Arts Jubilee” fundraiser benefiting Allied Arts Fund has been set for Thursday, March 4th at the Dahl Fine Arts Center, from 5:30 – 7 p.m. This year’s theme is “A Tip of the Hat – Support Allied Arts in 2010. Give today.” The Allied Arts Fund is a 501(c) 3 non-profit funding agency for the arts in Rapid City and the Black Hills, supporting eleven Member Arts Agencies, with the goal of enriching the lives of people in our community. Its eleven member agencies collaborate to sponsor this event, which provides necessary funding to support the exceptional quality of arts programming in our area. The generosity of individuals and businesses, the City of Rapid City, and other grant and foundation sources allows audiences from throughout the Black Hills region to enjoy a wide range of arts events through out the year. This year, the Allied Arts Fund has set a $250,000 fundraising goal.
The event will include hors d’oeuvres and desserts by Olive Garden, a cash bar, light entertainment, information on the AAF’s upcoming One Sensational Night gala in April, and the announcement of the 2010 Heart for the Arts award recipient. This award recognizes an individual or business that has shown a significant contribution to the promotion or improvement of the arts in the Black Hills Area. The contribution may be financial, “hands on” work, or both. The award for the 2010 recipient is an original artwork created by local artist and educator Richard DuBois
The community is invited; to reserve your free tickets, call 394-4106 by March 1, 2010. ###
